On Friday the Malta Stock Exchange index dropped by 0.2 per cent and closed at the 3,058.953 level as nine equities were negotiated across 48 deals for a total value of €416,120 in the equity market.

 

GO plc was the best performer of the session as its share price appreciated by 4.5 per cent and closed at €1.150 when 94,600 shares changed hands across 14 deals.  The other positive equity was Malta International Airport plc which saw its price rise by 1.1 per cent and close at €1.770 on two deals with a total volume of 2,950 shares.

 

On the other hand Crimsonwing plc lost most ground as its price dropped by 6.6 per cent and closed at €0.280 on three deals with a total volume of 10,000 shares.  Bank of Valletta plc dropped by 0.9 per cent and closed at €2.070 as 16 transactions were carried out for a total volume of 36,403 shares.  A single deal of 1,200 shares led to a drop of 2.2 per cent in the share price of Lombard Bank Malta plc which closed at €2.200.  The share price of Middlesea Insurance plc dropped by 2.3 per cent and closed at €0.630 when 1,672 shares changed hands across two transactions.  MIDI plc was also negative as its share price dropped by 4.2 per cent and closed at €0.335 on two deals with a total volume of 500,000 shares.

 

Meanwhile the share prices of HSBC Bank Malta plc and RS2 Software plc remained stable.

 

In the corporate bond market seven bonds were negotiated across 15 deals with four being positive and one negative.  The 7.15% Mediterranean Investments Holding 2015/17 was the best performer as its price appreciated by 1.5 per cent and closed at €98.500 on three deals with a total volume of 160,000.  The 4.25% FIMBank 2013 was the only negative performer of the session as its price dropped by 0.5 per cent and closed at €100.000 on three deals with a total volume of 40,000.

 

In the government bond market 15 bonds were negotiated across 42 deals.  Eight bonds were positive and seven were negative.  The 4.25% MGS 2017 III was the best performer as its price gained 0.3 per cent and closed at €104.440 while the 6.1% MGS 2015 lost most ground as its price dropped by 0.2 per cent and closed at €110.660.
